According to The Register, I'm not alone. A number of people have
complained of symptoms similar to mine and have been forced to revert
to 9.04. Although my tablet is unique in that it's a slate, it runs a
normal Pentium M processor with an Intel 852/855 video and chipset.
I've always had problems with Intel chipsets on Linux. When I first
tried Debian on my old laptop the kernel panicked trying to load the
(Intel) sound drivers and crashed. When I got Ubuntu installed on my
old laptop I had to use the 955resolution package because Intel can't
be bothered to write the correct resolutions into its chipset. On my
mother's laptop (also an Intel system) it refused to boot Linux of any
sort. On my new tablet I'm having this problem with X crashes and
ACPI needing to be off.
Moral of the story: buy AMD
