I need the link to remove myself from the list

Hi all

I mostly just lurk here, but work intensively with Ubuntu (servers as VBox hosts, plus LAMP servers as guests; my desktop is U8.10, & have many single-purpose appliances)

I have been a newsgroup/mailing list/forum subscriber since before the "web" (anyone here remember BBS's?, 1200baud modems? Overnight floppy image downloads?)

ALL lists suffer from OTD at some point or another. No matter what list you join, this will occur. In the old days of structured moderation (also remember when that was a PAID job at some locations), the restrictions on OT discussion actually stifled the sense of community that can develop when folks with similar interests are collaborating.

I am more active in many international newsgroups, and despite many Americans' anal-rectal inversion syndrome vis-a-vis economics & politics, I find many of them very likable otherwise, and do not get bent when the inevitable ranting starts up.  THAT IS WHAT THE DELETE KEY IS FOR.

Most email client programs also have the ability to automatically filter out any postings from particular senders (we used to call that the 'twit filt...

I am new to the group - so please excuse me if I am out of line. But I agree as well. Perhaps a link to a off list blog post to carry on the off topic conversation would have been better. But so far I like the group and would not want to see anyone leave over this.
