...and in the same vein, for anyone who was offended/annoyed/enraged by 
the off-topic discussion, I recommend you read Clay Shirky's "A Group Is 
Its Own Worst Enemy":

In short, it says that despite an organizers' best intentions, a group 
will form its own structure.  Discussion can't be constrained to a 
particular topic, and rules won't be followed.  And yet the most 
successful groups are the ones that define themselves, without 
heavy-handed moderator interference.

What we've seen here is a self-correcting action by the group.  An 
off-topic item was posted, the group made its wishes clear, and it won't 
happen again.  Until the next time.  This is the normal way of things, 
so move along please, nothing to see here.

At least the Ubuntu-ca list hasn't descended to Godwin's Law...
