The thing with WINE... it's a hard thing to be comprehensive about.

My general technique for making it work is just installing potential 
dependencies with the winetricks script.  I also have a licensed copy of 
Crossover Office - it's worth the $40, and if you get the trial they 
will send you a discount code that brings it down to like $25.

Some things work in Crossover, some work in WINE - again, hard to be 
comprehensive.

I am a pretty advanced WINE user, but it's all come from banging my head 
against it.  If there are any specifics you've run into, maybe try 
asking them?
