Hi Leigh:
Just wondering if you have anything planned for the Ottawa region over the
next few months. Although i have added Ubuntu onto every spare laptop and
desktop in my house, my wife or kids have decided to ignore, and sabotage my
efforts to convert them over to the Ubuntu O/S.
case in point:**We gave a dell desktop to my son, when he moved out, only to
have him return it last week (bad HD) complaining that Ubuntu had killed the
computer. I installed a new western digital HD (twice the capacity) and
handed it back to him with Ubuntu 10.04 and xp Pro....he asked how to delete
the 10.04 before he even tried it.
I informed him that if he would like to get onto the Internet, he will need
to use the Ubuntu O/S, as the Xp pro did not have the proper pppoe drivers
to get onto the Bell Sympatico account we cover for him.
Ubuntu was on the Internet in minutes/minute, not sure, but this is the
third time I have experienced this, and for me, it's fine....of course for
the family, they think I am doing something specific to their computer when
i discuss the issue.
