The problem with this line of reasoning is that the UDS photo is not a 
photo of system developers, and Ubuntu is *not* a techie project, nor is 
it an internal IT organization at a large bank. When we paint it that 
way we exclude large groups of contributors.

A better way to imagine Ubuntu (the project) is like a gigantic software 
company that is largely community-staffed. That software company 
requires all of the functions of the largest company you can imagine: 
development, management, marketing, sales, HR, finance, accounting, 
public relations... etc.

A final thought: What percentage of people who work at <the fruit 
company in Cupertino> are female?
