GNOME vs Canonical

I have a few thoughts...

1) It's obvious, reading the back and forth, that, regardless of who's
at fault or whatever, there was a breakdown of communication. That's
kind of bad. But I can't do anything about it besides shake my head.

2) Canonical has made it clear that user experience is pretty much
their top priority for Ubuntu. They want to innovate and they have a
vision for the what their UI should be. Gnome doesn't share that
vision. So Unity was probably inevitable. And not a bad thing, I
don't think. Gnome people shouldn't be surprised.

3) I don't imagine there will be any problems getting Gnome 3 running
in Natty (or Oneiric if it's not packaged in time for Natty) with a
click of a button in Software Centre, if that's what you prefer.

4) Jono just tweeted this: http://is.gd/0kHtni
