On Choosing a Laptop (or other Ubuntu systems)

In Ubuntu-land, there are two lists to consult when considering a laptop
(or other hardware) for the purposes of installing and running Ubuntu
without issue:
Ubuntu Certified Hardware (the official list):
http://www.ubuntu.com/certification/
*and*
Ubuntu-Friendly Hardware (the community-tested list):
https://friendly.ubuntu.com/
(choose 4-stars or more)
Beware the myth that I call U-WOE. Approach it with skepticism.

As Ubuntu members, advocates, and everyday humans, we should be shouting
our warnings of U-WOE to everyone we know, and pointing them to the
"Ubuntu Certified Hardware" list and Ubuntu-Friendly at every opportunity!
Cheers,
Randall
