Unetbootin

I can confirm that I made a persistent USB drive of Ubuntu 12.10 using
unetbootin. I was surprised, since previous versions did not offer that
option.

The first thing I do with Ubuntu is turn off "turn off screen when
inactive," then I change the wallpaper. Both settings were still in
effect after a reboot.
