See if it has NFS capabilities - much better than trying to use samba.

The device is available for configuration thru my browser as per manual. I can set up shares, ports, apps and security etc.... but when I try to connect via windows workgroup it fails to retrieve list of shares. Samba has been a problem for me and hoped the native would work instead.
Another option given the discussion around 12.10 is to go to another distro altogether for my 3 pcs'.

Best I can work out, this will be network storage. So you should just be able to plug it into your network and then browse to the files on it from your file browser under networks as long as you are on the same subnet.

There is probably a web interface where you can browse to with a web browser and do some basic configuring. You should not need to get under the hood of the unit to make it work.

Hi all !

Just got an IOMEGA home media Network Accessible Storage unit [1 Tb ] supposedly Linux friendly. The extensive docs make no mention of the software install for linux. I do have the latest setup.bin file but no clue what to do with it. Their tech support says Ubuntu to version 11.10 and no support/help after that.....

Does anyone have an idea on what I should do next ?
