I have used Skype with Ubuntu 12.04 LTS but lost interest when the
service was bought by M$. VOIP on Ubuntu discuss away but I suggest
moving discussions regarding Skype, (other than how to get it working on
Ubuntu), away to a M$ oriented list.

However, does one have an alternate that works well with Ubuntu? Now
that I would like to hear about!

I heartily agree, let's keep this list Ubuntu related.
