Parallels under MAC OS-X

I just wanted to tell everyone how wonderful the new iMAC 5K works with
both Kubuntu and Ubuntu when running in a virtual machine in the
application called "Parallels"
I purchased the new MAC because of the screen resolution and color
reproduction, as I think it is the best on the market. I am a diehard
Kubuntu user, and purchased the MAC because it was cheaper to buy this,
than a screen (available later this year) which would cost the same as a
MAC with the screen.
I was skeptical about how virtual machines would work in the MAC, but was
so wonderfully surprised to find that the sound output from the virtual
machine is mapped wonderful to the MAC speakers via the MAC OS. The
"keyboard keys to operate the loudness" works well when listening to Amorak
(from Kubuntu 14.04 inside a virtual machine on the MAC). The mouse
operates on Kubuntu when it is over a Kubuntu window, and operates on the
MAC when over a MAC window. OO so nice!
I can drag files between systems as well. I can take an itunes music file
and drop it on the Kubuntu desktop and then play it in Amarok and can open
Amarok to cover the 27" screen of the MAC, so it looks like it is running
native to the MAC. <smile> In fact it seems that anything that can run in
Kubuntu can be run in full screen mode.
I first had only 8 Gig of memory on the MAC, but could run two virtual
machines as well as the MAC without issue. I am running an i7 processor,
but under Parallels, one can select how much memory to offer to Kubuntu,
and how many processors.
I think Parallels is a great application to assist in Ubuntu and Kubuntu
testing because it is so easy to replace without having to deal with the
issues of grub.
So if you are blessed like me to be able to buy a MAC, Parallels is only
and $70.00 more, and is worth lots more --to me.
