Etienne, that wiki page is work in progress but the patch should work
with s3cmd version 0.9.8.3. Did you try it against that version or the
most recent one?
Also, a Eucalyptus user has posted a patch for version 0.9.9 here,

I haven't personally verified or tested it so take it for what it's worth.
