Da ist ein Tippfehler noch: fping statt ping (hattest du ja in der
ersten Mail richtig)

if fping -r 1 www.google.de; then gaim ;fi

und wenn ihr mehrere sachen starten wollt (zb Gaim, Thunderbird und eine
VPN Verbindung):

if fping -r 1 www.google.de; then
  gaim
  mozilla-thunderbird
  sudo vpnc-connect uklan-full
fi
