I think it is bad to have an alert with seven apparent ways out, plus a
checkbox. That's too many -- four is usually a reasonable maximum. And
it seems random that Log Out is in here while fast account switching is
not.
Since it's not obvious that the Shut Down command is hidden inside a
menu item called "Log Out", I suggest making this a separate item in the
System menu. The same applies to Sleep, Hibernate, and Restart.
---------------------
Sleep
Hibernate
Restart
Shut Down
---------------------
Lock Screen
Switch Account...
Log Out
Then the only need for this alert is when someone presses the power
button on their computer, and you need to know what they meant -- sleep,
hibernate, restart, or shut down. I sketched this alert at UBZ.
<https://wiki.ubuntu.com/PowerManagementConfiguration#head-86fd22dbf812daed4c3bcb0d55f12a6b5b9f1f56>
(The major unresolved issue in that spec is distinguishing between sleep
and hibernate; currently the mockup has just a Sleep button.)
This complements the alert for logging out, that according to the Dapper
desktop plan will appear in the corner of the screen. That alert would
contain "Switch Account..." and "Log Out".
