Hi Alexander,
indeed there is a chance for a merge with this and other fixes.
I'm unsure after all the time the other 2.4.7 behavior is in the field
how SRU-able that will be.
But I filed bug [1] for your problem and pinged the Desktop Team (who
usually looks after ppp) on IRC about it.
