Ubuntu dial-up use.

Hey,
I've suggested a few packages at:
http://www.ubuntulinux.org/wiki/SupportedSeedProposals
that I think would be beneficial for us dial-up users.
What do you think? wwwoffle is the one I would mark as most important
for inclusion.
Also, modem lights from gnome applets appears not to be working, I can
connect but the applet doesn't actually change or show any information.
And connecting via Computer->System Configuration->Networking did
eventually work but was very non responsive. After making a ppp device
and trying to activate it did nothing. Then when I closed the Networking
dialog I was connected.
I'm guessing there aren't many Ubuntu developers on dial-up to test this
but we do still exist.
I'm quite happy connecting via:
$ pon <enter>
but many wouldn't be.
Thanks,
Lex.
