Trying to pull things back on track ...
I'm running Ubuntu on 500MZ PIII with 384MB RAM and about 8GB of HD.
Plenty zippy for browsing and email.
My idea of a low-end box is P166 with 64MB RAM. I doubt if that will
even run XFCE4. But Vector Linux 3.2 was sort of tolerable. Note that
that box runs Win98SE just fine. That's how I define the cutoff point
for acceptable low-end boxes. When I think "third world", that's what I
envision as being available from donations, although I may be over- or
underestimating.
