TrackPoint in Ubuntu

I have an IBM ThinkPad T42 with a TrackPoint and touchpad. I use
the TrackPoint almost exclusively, as I like it better than the
touchpad. In the 2.6.9 kernel a patch was added to support TrackPoints.
What exactly does this do? My trackpoint seems to move slower since this was
added into Ubuntu. Also, as evidently this patch does NOT provide scroll
support
using the 3rd button, could scroll support possibly be added to Ubuntu using
different software to handle it? I think there may be an X.org patch to make
EmulateWheel allow 3rd-button mouse clicks, and also there is tp-scroll, which
is usable but somewhat of a hack.

Any chance one of these will be integrated into Hoary?
