sync of libgdamm1.3* from Debian experimental

I don't see any immediate problem with bringing this into Hoary, but it's a
bit unnerving that it's in experimental.  This means that the package
maintainer didn't intend for it to be widely used.

I've CCed the maintainer to find out why this is.
