Locale problem with xlib in newly upgraded xorg (or maybe it's just Synaptic)

After updating to xorg in my last upgrade, I found that running
synaptic causes the following error.

    The grafical user interface (xlib) does not
    support you chosen launguage environment

    Synaptic cab crash if you decide to continue with unchanged
    localization preferences. Languages values like
    "fr_FR.iso8859-15 at euro" are not supported. Use values like
    "fr_FR" or "fr_FR at euro" for your language.

    Contact the mailing list for comments or help:
    synaptic-devel at nongnu.org
    Include the output of the "locale" command in your email.

After clicking on Close (the only button provided), Synaptic opens up
and appears to run fine. I have not seen this error with other packages
yet, but I haven't gone exploring either.

I changed all of my locales to UTF-8 when I switched to hoary and did
not see this error with the xfree server installed. The output of
locale for my login is:

    LANG=en_US.UTF-8
    LC_CTYPE="en_US.UTF-8"
    LC_NUMERIC="en_US.UTF-8"
    LC_TIME="en_US.UTF-8"
    LC_COLLATE="en_US.UTF-8"
    LC_MONETARY="en_US.UTF-8"
    LC_MESSAGES="en_US.UTF-8"
    LC_PAPER="en_US.UTF-8"
    LC_NAME="en_US.UTF-8"
    LC_ADDRESS="en_US.UTF-8"
    LC_TELEPHONE="en_US.UTF-8"
    LC_MEASUREMENT="en_US.UTF-8"
    LC_IDENTIFICATION="en_US.UTF-8"
    LC_ALL=

Thanks,
Jason Pearce
