Hello,

I'd like to propose d4x package for inclusion in Desktop seed (or maybe
Ship seed).

d4x (Downloader for X) is a GUI user-friendly download manager. It
supports both HTTP and FTP protocols, can resume downloads and can
use HTTP, FTP and SOCKS5 proxy. It is somewhat similar to GetRight,
FlashGet or ReGet from Windows world.

Other features:

* Recursive downloads over FTP/HTTP

* Good download queue management

* Supports 'persistent connections'

* Supports download speed limits

* Supports changing links in HTML files for offline browsing

* many others.

Currently Ubuntu doesn't have any good GUI download manager in main repository
and I think d4x is a good candidate.

It should be easy to include this program to Desktop seed because it
doesn't have any extra dependencies except usual GTK+ 2 stuff:

$ apt-cache depends d4x
d4x
  Depends: libao2
  Depends: libatk1.0-0
  Depends: libc6
  Depends: libgcc1
  Depends: libglib2.0-0
  Depends: libgtk2.0-0
  Depends: libpango1.0-0
  Depends: libstdc++5
 |Depends: libx11-6
  Depends: xlibs

You can read more about this program on its home page:
http://www.krasu.ru/soft/chuchelo/

You can read some user comments on d4x at the appropriate freshmeat page:
http://freshmeat.net/projects/downloaderforx/
(also notice its rating and popularity)

Currently this program available only from universe. I use d4x for two
years and find it very stable and useful app.
