Have a look at bug #2129 (still not fixed, upstream issue), it might
help.
My new Acer notebook has the same NSC6001 PnP device as my 5-year-old
Asus for IRDA, but the driver doesn't use isapnp properly, so the driver
doesn't get loaded.
