Enabled repositories in default install

I think 99% of the people using Ubuntu enable the Universe repository
after installation. A search for 'enable universe' on the forums gives
341 threads. So wouldn't it be better to enable the universe
repository by default? May be a trivial thing to do, but for new users
it is very confusing if they can't find the programs they want to
install.
If you still wan't to make a difference between supported and
unsupported software, I think a notice in synaptic saying that a
package is not officially supported would be more appropriate.
Especially because if you have enabled universe, it is currently not
obvious in the main synaptic window of which repository a packages
comes from.
