Greetings,
Before hoary released, I uploaded some experimental UserLinux
metapackages for Ubuntu. Because source was unavailable and their
design was a bit nasty, these didn't make into hoary before we
released. In the meantime, I've ended up rewriting the UserLinux
metapackages from scratch. Word is that UserLinux folks will be using
my work in the future including the upcoming release. :)
UserLinux still plans to release soon after Debian's "sarge." However,
for those that want to the UserLinux experience on Ubuntu, you can get
get it by installing these metapackages based off of the UserLinux
package lists.
To use them, you simply need to add this line to your
/etc/apt/sources.list:
deb http://people.ubuntu.com/~mako/userlinux ./
After an update, you can then install any of the metapackages of your
choice!
The metapackages have been renamed as per the request of the UserLinux
team but they are otherwise identical (with the exceptions of bug
fixes and clean-ups that I suspect will be included in the next
release version of UserLinux).
The complete list of available metapackages is:
- meta-ul-base
- meta-ul-desktop-base
- meta-ul-dev
- meta-ul-enterprise-desktop
- meta-ul-mail-server
- meta-ul-pbx-server
- meta-ul-server-base
- meta-ul-server-gui
- meta-ul-server
- meta-ul-soho-desktop
- meta-ul-web-server
These have been tested with Hoary but I suspect they will also work
with Warty and Breezy without any modifications.
Please get back to me with feedback over the weekend. I will upload
these into the distribution and announce these early next week.
Regards,
Mako
