Virus checker on the live CD?

Yes, this is generally how a live CD works.

This is theoretically possible, but there is no support whatsoever for doing
this with the Ubuntu live CD.

I'm not arguing this point (see my other message in this thread), only
making a factual correction, since this seems to be a common
misunderstanding.
