Yes, I know that 1280x1024 is 5:4, but I don't see how it's an
abomination. 1024 is more pixels than 960, so you have more space on
your monitor. and it is the resolution which is recommended by the
producer.

And concerning Launchpad, I still don't like the interface, GNOME's
Bugzilla is easier to use (for example, the link to 'My Bugs' which is
easily found).

My Windows partition is NTFS, but that should not be a problem for read
only. Off-topic, but concerning NTFS on Linux:

I understand from other posts on the mailing lists that posts like mine
do not actually belong on this list, so next time I'll post on
ubuntu-sounder.
