Hi all,
one problem with the current desktop installations for CJK users:
As the desktop resolution has been changed from 96 dpi to 75 dpi, fonts
are now much smaller than before.
A 10 point font size translates to 10x10 pixels, which is too small to
display CJK characters adequately.
As the ttf-arphic-uming fonts only contain embedded bitmaps for 11 to 16
pixels, 10 point at 75 dpi means, it is almost impossible to read and
hurts the eyes.
So, my suggestion is, to change the default font sizes for all parts of
the desktop to 11, or better 12 points, which translates to 11x11 or
12x12 pixels respectively.
The higher the amount of pixels the clearer a CJK character can be
displayed. Standard pixel sizes, for Chinese at least, are 12, 16, 24
and 48 pixels. With lower pixel sizes strokes have to be left out and
the glyphs for complex characters will sometimes be indistinguishable
from similar crafted ones.
Please change the default desktop settings to a font size of 12 points
for CJK users.

I'm not sure if this issue applies to arabic or indic users, too.
Cheers
