Well I didn't have exactly the same series of events but here it goes...
I've been running the system on the verge of running out of space I
had less then 100Mb. And strange things started to happen as far as I
remember GTK failed to load themes so everything looked like X.org
widgets (everything gray and rectangular).
On top of that firefox was acting funny. It didn't load my bookmarks
nor my settings. When that happened I felt even more advantageous and
kept it running like that for a couple of days. It was fun cause
everything was really ugly.
To my surprise none of the data got corrupted and after I freedup some
space everything went back to normal. Since I'm a bit more advanced
user now, my 9GB in total for everything are not enough. Hence I'm
doing repartitioning with Jaunty release. I haven't tried Jaunty yet.
Overall I'd love to see a hint that I'm running out of space and that
certain things will start behaving different.
