#ubuntu-doc report for 2004-12-24

The Ubuntu Live CD seems to have fixed ChrisH hard drive: after having
lost the partition table, ChrisH tried Partition Magic and gpart without
luck; however, he then just booted the live CD and... presto... he could
read and backup his old partitions, even if cfdisk, sfdisk and fdisk
would fail to read it.

froud looked for a subversion server to checkout docbook sources from.
The answer is "svn co http://69.155.172.150/faq".
froud also asked for info on creating and submitting patches.
The answer is:
<sivang> when you have a patch, you can send it on the mailing list
and people would review it and patch it. If you get big in
changes, we will give you svn access.

Since the svn repository is having problems, froud asked for a working
copy of HEAD so he can start reading through and making patches against.
I made a checkout from my local mirror and put it online at
http://lento.uncasino.it/enrico/store/faq-svk.tar.gz (please note that
"lento un casino" in Italian means "utterly slow").

The rest of the traffic was chit-chat about CPUs and architectures, from
which it's worth extracting a couple of highlights:
 - Canonical server farm runs Warty on the servers
 - Cenerentola is looking for people to help fabbione (and him) to port
   Ubuntu on the Sparc architecture

Ciao,

Enrico
