This document is released under the GPL so that part of the licencing 
headaches is already covered.

This document is also GPL so the two can be merged safely as long as all 
copyright is respected.

The licence thing here is because they predate the GNU FDL

on the CC website it suggests that free software projects should use the 
GFDL.  I would prefer to use a licence that comes from the freesoftware 
world for the docs because if Lessig suggests we do it must be the right 
thing (tm) ;-)
