/Java has been used for month on #ubuntu to point users to how to install Java.
Was there any discussion about its incoming deletion? On IRC maybe?
Now I guess we have to point users to RestrictedFormats, but the Java
solution there is way too simple, doesn't explain anything, and doesn't
even work out of the box (for i386):
$ sudo apt-get install sun-j2re1.5
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree... Done
E: Couldn't find package sun-j2re1.5
is that a backport thing? which repositories do they need to add to get
it to work (I don't even know, and I have been using Ubuntu for months)?
shouldn't we point users to a gui solution like synaptic? etc.
While the Java page has been a mess for a very long time, I think it was
better to have it on its own stand-alone page than in the middle of a
large monolitic RestrictedFormats page.
