I agree that it is desirable for us to make information available quickly to
the people who are least able to look for it, but at the same time I feel
this solution will lead to the other projects we are doing becoming too hard
to find. What I favour is the idea of having a yelp frontpage which looks
something like this:
Ubuntu Starter Guide - if you are having problems setting up Ubuntu, you
will find answers to the common questions here.
Ubuntu User Guide - this is a book which introduces you to Linux and Ubuntu,
and contains tutorials.
Ubuntu Quick Guide - this books contains an explanation of each program you
will find in your Ubuntu Applications Menu.
Other Documentation.
Search All Documentation
etc
I believe that adding just one extra click is worth it because I don't
believe that it makes things more difficult to find (heck, right now
everyone is using ubuntuguide.org and they have to be told about it, look
for it, and go to the website, which is more clicks and more effort that the
above solution), and it also ensures that anyone who might be looking for
the other documentation will find it easily, and some people who might come
across it by accident will be pleasantly surprised.
I strongly feel that this is the way to enhance people's learning experience
with Ubuntu.
