Hoary is now able to support suspend-to-disk out of the box. As of the
preview release, the installer will make sure that the right
configuration information is setup. However, because it involves
changing a configuration file we don't do it on upgrades. If a person
wants to enable suspend-to-disk functionality, they need to edit
their /etc/mkinitrd/mkinitrd.conf file. At the end of it, they'll see a
line:
#RESUME=
And then need to change that to:
#RESUME=/dev/SWAP
Where SWAP is replaced by whatever their swap partition is.
Work for this was done by Jeff Bailey (initrd-tools), Colin Watson
(installer), and Matthew Garrett (overall assistance).
Tks,
Jeff Bailey
