Wow, am I lost

All,
 
Looked at two notes between Jeff and Sean and realized you folks are
operating at a whole different level than I when it comes to
documentation.
 
I have written HTML-based help and Windows help along with a lot of
other training and documentation before but, when the acronyms fly I
reach the end of my knowledge about this.  Is there some pre-read I can
do regarding your process?  I find I don't know my SVN from my XInclude
and my XPointer.
 
Definitely want to kick in some hours to help but, if I don't know what
I am doing, my help may be of no help!  DO not wish to make anyone start
do-overs.
 
I am a quick study but, I need a little theory first. Funny, just like
college 30 years ago.
