live cd

Hello,

I am running a 20" G5 iMac with standard specs except for an extra 1  
gig of ram.

I have tried a number of times to boot from the live cd but keep  
getting the message 'Release keys to continue!' even though I am not  
touching anything.

As I am new to Linux, I have tried to follow on-screen options but  
pressing enter or typing boot-powerpc in the first screen had the  
above effect while typing boot-powerpc64 would not even go past the  
initial screen.

Is there a faq or thread that I might be able to consult?
