All our documentation is available in Ubuntu without being connected to
the internet, via System->Help. The topics on the left cover all aspects
of using Ubuntu. Obviously, we do not cover absolutely everything, and
the reason for that is simply that we do not have the resources to do so.

The easy way to find out whether your computer will work correctly on
Ubuntu is to try the "desktop cd" - this allows you to boot Ubuntu
directly from CD without installing it to your hard drive. If it works
(and it should), then there is no need to worry!
You can also install Ubuntu alongside Windows, so that if a problem
arises with your internet connection, you can boot Windows to try and
find information to solve the problem - the information in our community
wiki is unfortunately only available online at the moment -
https://help.ubuntu.com/community.
In the future, I hope that we will be able to provide a downloadable
tarball in HTML of the whole community wiki, so that users can browse
all the community documentation offline.
