For your information, I know of an editor and a distributor (unsure about
this last word, it is "diffuseur" in French) that are promoting free (like
in freedom) book. The books are freely available on-line under a Creative
Commons BY-SA license or can be order for a small amount of money (usually
13 EUR) and in this last case you have a nice paper copy.
I can send you the links, however you will need to understand French or use
on-line translation systems.
- The "distributor" is Framabook: (http://www.framabook.org/)
Framabook is part of Framasoft, a sort of Foundation (even though this term
is not existing juridically in France) whose aim is to promote free (as in
freedom) software and culture to people at large.
- The editor is In Libro Veritas (http://www.inlibroveritas.net/), it
is a bit of an alternatives editor and it is also promoting free(-dom)
culture. It is a member of APRIL <http://www.april.org/>, an
association much like the FSF or EFF.
Btw, Framabook has recently edited a free(-dom) book (in French) about
Ubuntu <http://www.framabook.org/ubuntu.html> :-)
If you are interested, I can try to contact them to see if they would also
publish English book (Framasoft is known to translate English resources into
French, and they now also try to make reciprocal).
Cheers,
Jean-Christophe
