Hi!

My name is Ian Chennell, and I am based in Victoria Australia. I have
been using every version of Ubuntu since Dapper now on desktop and
laptop systems, as well as a rather old but reliable IBM server. I have
been a silent but very interested member of this list for quite a while
now, and have decided it's time to make a contribution to the collective
Ubuntu effort.

While studying for my IT Masters, I needed an OS that was similar to the
UNIX-based Sun servers that the uni was using, to develop my software
assignment solutions on. The logical choice was a Linux-based OS, and
after trying several different flavours, Ubuntu stood out as the choice
which allowed me to spend the most time doing assignment work, rather
than messing around with the OS itself getting it working as I needed it
to. I also found it the easiest to get up and running on the various
systems I was using.

I finished studying two years ago now, but have been using Ubuntu for
most of my day-to-day computing on an HP Compaq nx8220 laptop ever
since. I've always found it very easy to configure, but powerful enough
to tackle any task I threw at it.

Look forward to assisting when and where I can. I have extensive
professional experience in training design and delivery, and currently
work as a trainer for an IT company in Melbourne. I hope my skills can
be focussed into assisting with Ubuntu documentation, and I look forward
to some guidance with where and how to proceed.

MTIA.

Cheers, Ian Chennell
