Folks:
Too many and different ways of connecting. :-) I don't have the
original message to refer to.
First introductions. I'm Doc Kinne, a semi-new *buntu user. I've been
using *buntu (and I write it like that because I've used Kubuntu,
Ubuntu, Xbuntu, and Eeebuntu) off and on - mainly off - since 7.04. Now
with the purchase of a new EeePC 1000HB I've ramped up.
I'm an astronomical technologist in Cambridge, MA and have recently
joined the MA Ubuntu LoCo. I've been involved in the Linux scene off and
on since the mid 90s. Mainly a Macintosh person I published the first
review and installation guide for the PowerPC-based MkLinux in Linux
Journal years ago.
Etc. Etc. Etc.
One of the ways that I thought I could be involved in the larger *buntu
community was through documentation. I've been on the mailing list for a
couple of weeks and am conceptually familiar with the tools involved.
What I need is a small, concrete project, and hopefully a mentor for
whom I'd be semi-low maintenance. :-)
Phil, I thought working on the Installation Guide FAQ or System
Requirements might be a good start. Care to walk a newbie through the
process? :-)
