Hello there Ubuntu freaks

I recently upgraded to Jaunty 9.04 because I recognized a bit slow
clumsy graphics under 8.10 on my T40p with ati9000gl graphics.
Even though my Installation was shut down short before at the end of the
Upgrade process to Ubuntu Jaunty.
I recovered the system. I might have some corrupt files now, but hey
for my needs it works stable at the moment. Keep on going and save the
good work.

Its a great startup screen with the tiny bar now. The responsiveness of
my graphics are much better, thanks alot, but it needed approximately
40hrs for me to fix it all under intrepid and Jaunty.

Some Hurdles:

1. Wireless Under Jaunty:

Until i figured out, that there is a "dedicated" Wireless driver for my
Card it took me along time to run WEP. Its simply listed under Hardware
drivers. Install it ... fixed.

2. Graphics:
T40's seem to shut themselves down on high Video Graphics load. But for
work you dont need Full HD support and its not the Hardware for it.
So I managed to get satisfying results for daily Firefox Use by doing
some change to the xorgconfig and the etc/modules file for the
temperature issue (Tip from Lee Schlesinger Page). Flash now works, but
didn't test the extreme HQfiles to not overstress my Hardware.

Until you understand, how to configure your Graphics in Ubuntu its a
pain for a MS-Windows zombie ;) but now its ok.

My Knowledge base could save some time for good old IBM T Series users.

Thanks a lot for this piece of software and have a good time.
