If the "official" does not exist, and not important, why is there so much
talk about it? Why not just put Ubuntu Manual on all the CDs, and that's it?
Why can't you?

I think that while not written anywhere specific, there is a concept of
"official" in Ubuntu Project. That's how the project is organized, and if
someone does not like it - they would be free to make an effort and change
things.

By that train of thought, why not call yourself "an official Ubuntu
Documentation team"? Manual is documentation, is it not? And when I'd write
a couple of scripts, I'd call myself an "official Ubuntu developer". And my
friend who created a couple of pictures, would call herself an "official
Ubuntu Artwork team member".

If any package, artwork, document, link, group of people, a developer, a
writer, an artist, all have to go through some *official *process to be
included on the Ubuntu CD or to be considered an "Ubuntu Member", then I
guess it is called "official" by common sense.

And anything "official" implies *rules*, no matter how bad or incorrect or
unjust they may seem.

Alex.
