Where do ubuntu-docs translations go?

Hi :)
I don't know how feasable this is but I would really like to see a simple one
line on all Ubuntu main pages saying something like
"Please click here to see Ubuntu in this language"
translated into every language we know has an equivalent site and clicking
anywhere on that line links to the appropriate site. For all remaining
languages it would be nice to have that link go to a place where Ubuntu can be
downloaded in the appropriate translation if one exists (even just partially
translated). I am currently working on something a little similar for my
company's website although the only thing people will get is a little leaflet in
my company's case.
At the moment it seems you have to be one of the people that already knows where
to find Ubuntu in a particular language which is inconvenient for my work-place
where i meet people from all over the world but understand almost none of them
(even americans sometimes) and i often can't even work out which language people
are speaking :( In the Answers forum it was fairly easy for me to copy&paste
into the translators mailing list and people here were fantastically helpful but
in my paid job i don't have that option. At work i hope to get around the
problem by showing people the leaflets page and let them click and read on one
of our public machines. Can we get something similar on the main Ubuntu page? I
worry that a link saying something like "Click here if you don't understand
English" leading to a list of languages is unlikely to be helpful!! So how
could we incorporate something without taking up too much space? (i think the
space would be justified and a positive thing for Ubuntu to show prominently)
Good luck and regards from
Tom :)

At present we do not include translated documentation on
help.ubuntu.com. That's not because of any technical difficulty in
doing so, but rather because the Ubuntu websites (such as
www.ubuntu.com and help.ubuntu.com) currently have a policy of
publishing in English only, and encouraging local teams to publish
material on their dedicated websites (in your case
http://www.ubuntu-gr.org/). That ensures that users know that they can
find all material related to Ubuntu in their language in one place,
the dedicated local website, and avoids confusion.
There has previously been some discussion about this and I personally
am open to discussing this position with the translation or local
teams if they have views against this policy. But having contributed
for a long time to the Italian local team, I have seen the advantages
of having a single dedicated local website with material all in one
place and I believe that it is a powerful consideration.
There is also an initiative to develop a system whereby users of the
international website are given prominent information about where they
can find material in their language automatically - see
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Website/WebsiteLocalization. I do not know
what stage that initiative has got to but once it is ready we can
certainly use it on help.ubuntu.com.
Building and publishing translated documentation is quite simple. We
have some instructions to help with this here:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DocumentationTeam/SystemDocumentation/BuildingDocumentation

We do use it. See
https://translations.launchpad.net/ubuntu/maverick/+source/ubuntu-docs
All translations should be submitted there.
