I don't insist in wanting to put the material in a specific page, I insist
on the fact that randomly wiping other people's material after making a
couple of edits to make it less clear is not the way to handle such
situations.

Technically speaking, the fact that you started that page does not entitle
you to any exclusivity to edit the page and I hope we all agree on this.

I think there is a misunderstanding here. The platform ID can be seen in
the BIOS and also on the wiki page. It's also possible to read it from DMI
values or somewhere, see the Python tools previously linked. If you are
referring to the part number, it is always "AAAA" as confirmed also by the
Python tools linked above, that perform the same task I described in the
wiki.

Sure someone had to use Windows to discover this, but after it was done
once we know the code and we can use it.

The whole point of what I wrote is to allow other people to check the
latest version number without Windows.

By the way, I am not subscribed to this list. So in the future, please try

I wrote in the ML because I was advised to do so in the IRC channel, after
failing to communicate with you via email. The ML is the correct place to
discuss contributions to the wiki with the other members of the Ubuntu Doc
Community.

This is not some kind of secret society, we are here simply to provide the
best documentation possible for the Ubuntu community. Of course I don't
need someone else's permission to discuss a contribution in the relevant
ML. O.O

Best regards
