Hello everyone,
My name is Ryan and I am interested in helping the Documentation team.
I have used Linux on and off for many years, starting as many do with
Ubuntu, before exploring other distributions. I have recently returned to
Ubuntu and have been impressed with the progress made since my last
venture. I'm working on switching careers at the moment, currently studying
computer science, and I wish to work in open source for a market leader
such as Canonical.
With this in mind, I am interested in assisting the Ubuntu project in any
way I can and as my code is not up-to scratch, I feel like helping with
wiki gardening and documentation might be a good way to get involved as my
technical skills evolve - not to mention the knowledge gained from reading
the docs! I have had some experience assisting with another linux
distribution project, editing wiki pages, but this was rather brief.
As far as estimating the time I can offer the team, it would be
approximately 10-20 hours a month, squeezing in between my two jobs,
studying and the learning experience that comes with being a recent
first-time father. In my *very* little spare time outside of the above I am
an avid reader of comic books, enjoying anything from Image comics, listen
to music (all sorts), and enjoy football (soccer) and basketball (Boston
Celtics and Blackburn Rovers die-hard/tragic). Aside from Ubuntu, I also
run and keep an eye on the wonderful Solus Project.
You can find me on freenode with the nick @masetrax
Regards,
Ryan
