Hello, all.

Here is a rundown of the current content-filtering settings on the
ubuntu-doc mailing list.

When a message is received by the list, the individual attachments are
first compared to a whitelist of content types. Any attachment type
that does not match a content type in this list is forwarded to the
list owners. The current list of acceptable content types are:

 • multipart/mixed
 • multipart/alternative
 • multipart/signed
 • text/plain

After this initial filtering, any multipart attachments that are empty
are removed. If the outer message is left empty after this filtering,
then the whole message is forwarded to the list owners.

Then, each multipart/alternative section will be replaced by just the
first alternative that is non-empty after filtering.

Finally, any text/html parts that are left in the message will be
converted to text/plain (assuming the Ubuntu list server is configured
to allow these conversions).
