Simon,
The official Ubuntu beta AMI, AKI, and ARI are not yet available in the
eu-west-1 region, but this is the place to stay tuned for any
announcements about it.
If you're a launchpad user you might also subscribe to:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu-on-ec2/+bug/310698
(Sorry I forced you to come over here from the EC2 forum just to ask
this question again, but this is the place for Ubuntu beta EC2 talk, and
the more people who need it in EU and express that here, the higher
priority it is likely to get.)
Have you been using the community Intrepid AMI from http://alestic.com
with the 2.6.27 kernel+ramdisk in us-west-1? It should work, I'm just
curious how well tested it is and if you found problems.

I need a kernel >= 2.6.27... I notice that there is an AKI and assoicated ramdisk available in the US (canonical_ubuntu_cloud/vmlinux-2.6.27-xen-${arch}) but I'd like to know if there's any way I can boot this in Europe.
