hp pavilion dv6 needs Ubuntu

hi all

I have my friend gave me his lap (pavilion dv6 ) to install ubuntu on it

but I'm facing a strange problems

I tried to install inside windows throw wubi >>> I have it installed but
without grub menu

I removed ubuntu from windows (add or remove programs) and I tried to boot
from USB and customize the partitions with GParted but there is another
problem that GParted doesn't see the partitions it appears un
allocated  some of them


I have a bad experience with hp because my lap is hp probook and
I'm suffering from several problems with ubuntu but anyway I want to know


How can I install Ubuntu 10.10 or Pinguy 10.10 or 11.4 to my friend's lap
(the pavilion one)
