como iniciar ubuntu novato total

no se como iniciar ubuntu
cdo. prendo la pc me sale el cartel para elegir sist. operativo
si pongo para que inicie ubuntu se cuelga en una pantalla que dice varias cosas y al final dice 
boot
Ahi se queda
por favor ayuda
