Pure-FTPd: Authentication failed

Hola
Acabo de instalar el Pure-FTPd (apt-get install pure-ftpd) y he seguido
las instrucciones (http://www.pureftpd.org/README.Virtual-Users) pero a
la hora de conectarme...

y he cambiado el password por si acaso, pero da lo mismo.
Alguien lo ha configurado??? Ha tenido problemas???
